SHOPLIFTING/FLEEING/DRUGS END IN ACCIDENT

On the 1st July 2014, around 1:01pm, the Cabot Police Department received a report of a shoplifter fleeing Walmart in Cabot driving an older model Mustang convertible.  Deputies in the area observed the Mustang traveling south on Rockwood Drive at which time the Mustang turned around and headed north on Rockwood Drive traveling at a high rate of speed.  A pursuit was initiated which was joined by Cabot Officers.  The Mustang continued north on Rockwood, crossed Main Street, and continued on North Rockwood Drive.  The vehicle then again turned around and started traveling south on North Rockwood.  Deputies observed the female driver throw two plastic bags from the vehicle.  The vehicle then turned onto Main Street heading east towards the intersection of Main Street and Highway #367.  At the intersection adjacent to the Cabot Police Department, the vehicle struck a vehicle in the intersection which in turn struck another vehicle.  The operator of the Mustang was identified as 28 year old Ashley Michelle Leslie of Cabot.  Leslie received unconfirmed injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.  The other individuals involved in the accident received minor injuries and were not transported.  Investigators located the two plastic bags on North Rockwood Drive which contained an estimated 7 grams of methamphetamine in the form of “ice”.  Leslie will face criminal charges in regards the shoplifting, controlled substances and fleeing, in addition to numerous traffic violations.   Leslie who is currently on parole, also had outstanding arrest warrants from the Arkansas Board of Parole and the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office for Failure To Appear.
